Online mental health support for 16-19 year olds
Northpoint has partnered with SilverCloud to provide digital therapeutic programmes to support young people aged 16-19. This includes programmes specific to neurodivergent young people.
Based on cognitive behavioural therapy principles, these online programmes are designed to help young people understand what they’re going through, enabling them to build practical skills to cope with anxiety, low mood, and everyday pressures.
There are a range of programmes to choose from, including:
- Space from Anxiety
- Space from Low Mood
- Space from Low Mood and Anxiety
- Living Well as an Autistic Person
- Living Well with ADHD
How does it work?
Getting started is simple. Once signed up or referred, the young person is given access to the SilverCloud platform and matched with a programme that suits their needs.
They can then work through the programme in their own time, with 24/7 access to activities, tools and resources designed to build understanding and coping skills.
A trained ‘supporter’ checks in regularly, offering encouragement and guidance to help the young person stay on track and get the most from the programme.
Over time, the young person builds practical skills they can use in everyday life to better manage their mental health.
Who can access this service?
This service is available for any young person living in Leeds aged 16–19 who are looking for flexible, online mental health support. It is designed for those experiencing mild to moderate challenges, such as anxiety, low mood or everyday pressures, and who feel comfortable working through a digital programme at their own pace.
The young person will need access to a device, an email address and a private space to use the platform. This type of support works best for those who are open to trying an online approach and can engage with self-guided activities with support along the way.
The service may not be suitable for young people who need more intensive or urgent support, including those in immediate distress or experiencing more complex mental health difficulties.
How can I access this support?
The young person, parent/carer or professional can complete a short referral form to get started. The service can be accessed in a number of ways. A young person aged 16–19 can request support for themselves, and can also choose for their parent or carer to access support alongside them. Parents and carers can also complete the form to request support for their young person, or for themselves where appropriate.
Professionals, such as teachers or support staff, can also refer a young person and/or their parent or carer to the service.
