Spotlight: Soluna by Kooth
Soluna – a space to be you
Recently, I had the chance to speak with Olivia, Senior Engagement Lead at Kooth Digital Health, about Soluna, a free digital wellbeing service designed for young people aged 10-18.
As a MindMate Ambassador, I’m always interested in learning about services that genuinely support young people, and Soluna definitely stood out.
What is Soluna?
Soluna is a free app and website that helps young people look after their mental health and wellbeing. It offers a range of tools, activities and access to professional support, all in one place.
Whether you’re feeling stressed about school, worried about friendships, or simply need some support, Soluna provides a safe space to explore your wellbeing and build healthy coping skills.

What Support Does Soluna Offer?
Soluna provides free digital mental health support, wellbeing tools and access to professional help for young people.
The app includes:
- Mood tracking tools
- Breathing and relaxation exercises
- Interactive wellbeing activities
- Safe community spaces
- Text-based chats with trained counsellors and practitioners
- Up to six sessions of one-to-one support
Olivia explained that Soluna focuses on early support and prevention, helping young people access advice and support before challenges become overwhelming.
It’s important to know that Soluna is not a crisis service, so anyone in immediate danger or needing urgent support should access emergency or crisis services.
Meet Olivia and the team behind Soluna
Olivia is the Senior Engagement Lead for Soluna at Kooth Digital Health. Her role focuses on making sure young people, families, schools and professionals know about the support available through Soluna. This includes visiting schools and community events, delivering presentations, building relationships with local organisations, and helping spread awareness of mental health support across Leeds, Bradford and Doncaster.
A big part of Olivia’s work is listening to young people and making sure their voices are heard. By gathering feedback and working closely with communities, she helps ensure Soluna remains a service that reflects the needs and experiences of the young people who use it
Created with young people, for young people
The name “Soluna” comes from the words Sol (sun) and Luna (moon), representing balance, growth and wellbeing. This idea is reflected throughout the app’s branding, including its friendly space bunny mascot, which helps create a fun and welcoming environment for young people. One of the most impressive things Olivia shared was that over 2,500 young people from across the UK helped shape Soluna’s design, features and branding through a series of workshops and consultations.
This means the app has been built around what young people actually want and need, making it more engaging, relatable and easy to use.
Meet Space Bunny 🐰
While exploring Soluna, I also learned about the service’s friendly space bunny mascot who represents Soluna’s mission of creating a welcoming, supportive and non-judgemental space where young people can be themselves.

I think it’s a really fun addition that helps make mental health support feel less intimidating and more approachable.
My personal faves
What I liked most about Soluna is that it doesn’t feel clinical or intimidating. It feels like a space created with young people, not just for them. When I asked Olivia to describe Soluna in three words, she said… empowering, fun, insightful. After hearing more about the service, I’d have to agree.

If you’re looking for a safe, supportive place to explore your wellbeing, learn coping strategies or reach out for support, Soluna is definitely worth checking out.
Take care,
