Ways to support a child through a bereavement

Provided by Leeds Bereavement Forum

What is it?

*Update August 2019* Leeds City Council has launched a new service providing support to bereaved children and their families. Run by national charity Child Bereavement UK, the service is open for referrals for general advice, advocacy and one to one support. Designed based on feedback from families with lived experience, the service has skilled key workers ready to provide support immediately following a bereavement or to those with ongoing unmet needs. GPs and health practitioners are encouraged to refer families with children up to the age of 18 who have been bereaved of a close family member, usually a sibling or parent. The service has an office in Leeds and can visit families across the city, to find out more go to www.childbereavementuk.org/leeds or call 01133 503598.
