Becoming a parent at any age can feel very intimidating but there are lots of agencies, groups and services out there who can support you to be the best parent you can be. It’s important to remember you’re not alone and you’re not any less likely to be a great parent just because you’re young. The resources on this page are all about helping parents and families to raise happy, healthy children whilst looking after themselves as well.

A 20 week city wide parenting course run by Women’s Health Matters for women who have children being looked after by someone else. This can be through adoption, foster care or any other kind of kinship or special guardianship order.

A project to provide in-depth whole family support for children and their mums, working with each individual family according to their needs. Our playworker works with families in our on-site creche and also in their homes, providing support with play and positive interactions between children and mums, with the aim of building protective factors into each family.

Bosom Buddies provides advice and support from specialist, trained advisers to new parents. They also train experienced parents as peer supporters, who can provide guidance face-to-face, on the telephone or through social media to other new parents. They run weekly Breastfeeding Support groups within children’s centres for face to face group support
