Survival Toolkit

A survival toolkit is something you can turn to when life feels overwhelming – or even when things are going well. It can be a collection of things on your phone, a notebook or an actual box, it’s up to you.

It’s a simple way to look after your mental wellbeing and remind yourself of the things that make you happy.

The best part? It’s completely personal. You choose what goes in it.

Do you work with young people in Leeds?

Hope’s Survival Toolkit idea has been turned into an interactive resource that professionals in Leeds can borrow to use in group work with young people aged 11 to 18. It includes:

  • A ‘how to’ guide that helps you plan and run the group activity.
  • A toolkit box with a set of activity cards that prompt the group to reflect and discuss what they could include in a digital or physical toolkit. Some of the cards link to additional activities on the MindMate website.
  • A selection of fidget/sensory toys to use in an ice breaker.

You can also order copies of the Survival Toolkit leaflet and MindMate Need Help Now cards for the members of your group.

Free to borrow from Public Health Resource Centre
If you have any questions about borrowing the resource email phrc@leeds.gov.uk
